Thank you for purchasing the Mega X-Key™! Downloading and sharing save games has never been easier! This guide will take you step by step through the entire process of using your Mega X-Key™. With its intuitive streamlined interface, the Mega X-Key™ software is easy to use, and you will be transferring saves in no time! Plus, as an added bonus, your Mega X-Key™ is preloaded with saves for some of the most popular games, so you can get started right away!

1 USB Extension Cable (for your PC) - connects the MXK to the PC
1 PC Installation Software CD-ROM - contains Mega X-Key software plus extras

Installation

To install the Mega X-Key™ software on your computer, simply insert the included CD.  If for some reason the CD does not automatically begin the installation process, you can also choose Run… from the Start Menu and type in ‘d:\setup.exe’ where ‘d’ is the drive letter of your CD-ROM.

Usage

Transferring saves to the Mega X-Key™ is very easy. Simply run the Mega X-Key™ software, and then plug the Mega X-Key™ into a USB port on your PC computer.  You have the option of using the included USB Extension Cable to connect the Mega X-Key™ to the PC or directly connect the Mega X-Key™ to the USB port.  The Mega X-Key™ software will automatically detect the Mega X-Key™ and show you all the saves that are loaded on it.



On top of each panel, you will see the number of free blocks available on the PC and on the Mega X-Key™.  When you select a save on either panel, it will display the number of blocks that the save contains on top as well.  To send a new save to your Mega X-Key™, highlight the save you want to send on the PC side of the screen, and then drag the save over to the Mega X-Key™ side.  You can also right-click on a save and select 'Transfer' in the menu to move the save over.

 

If you wish to edit the description of the save, either double-click the save or right-click and select 'Edit'.


At this screen, you can set the Region, Description, Save Date, Saved By, and E-mail of the save.  If you wish to upload your save to a site, we recommend you set these beforehand.

To submit a save to a site, right-click on a save in the PC panel and select 'Submit to website..' in the menu.

When you are done using the Mega X-Key™, you can unplug the Mega X-Key™ from your computer’s USB port, and plug it into the supplied USB to X-Box™ cable and attach it to a controller port.  The Mega X-Key™ now functions as a normal X-Box™ memory card.

If you wish to transfer the save over to the X-Box™ harddrive, go to the X-Box™ Dashboard by turning on the system without any games in the DVD tray.  Select 'Memory' and access the saves on the Mega X-Key™ through the controller port.  You can transfer or delete any saves on the Mega X-Key™ or X-Box™ harddrive using the X-Box™ Dashboard.  Reverse this process and you can backup and share your save games just as easily!

NOTE:  On the side of the Mega X-Key™, there is a small switch that lets you write-protect the Mega X-Key™ to prevent any data from being overwritten.  Make sure the protection is off if you are transferring Saves to the Mega X-Key™.

Mega X-Key™ Toolbar

This Toolbar is where you control your Mega X-Key™



Brings up the settings dialog to adjust the program settings. The options are explained in the next section.
Deletes the selected Save.
Displays the About Window.


Settings

The General tab allows you to set the default view of your game saves to either the game’s own description of the file, or your own personal description.

 



The Backup Xbox™ Live Account button will make a backup file for your Xbox™ Live Account if present on the Mega X-Key™, and the Entire Mega X-Key™ button will create a single file backup of your entire Mega X-Key™. Use the restore buttons to copy these files back to your Mega X-Key™.

The Skins Browser tab allows you to set the skin you want to use for the Mega X-Key™ software.  All skins are stored in the 'skins' subfolder where you installed the Mega X-Key™ software.
