fre:ac - free audio converter (ex BonkEnc Audio Encoder) est un logiciel très complet pour encoder et convertir vos musiques dans différents formats tel qu’en MP3, AAC, OggVorbis, M4a, M4b, MP4, Wav, Wma, AIF, AU, VOC, bonk (format propriétaire du logiciel) et Flac (formats Lossless pour encoder votre musique sans perte de qualité).

Il vous offre aussi la possibilité de ripper vos CD audio et se connecte à la base de données en ligne freedb. Il remplit ainsi automatiquement les titres des chansons, (tags ID3V2, les tags pour Vorbis, Unicode ou CDText) avec le nom de l'artiste, de l'album et toutes les autres méta-données nécessaires pour bien gérer votre musique. D’ailleurs sur ce point le logiciel inclus un mode CDParanoia pour une qualité d'extraction optimale.

Vous pouvez aussi l’utilisez comme lecteur audio et créer des listes de lecture au format M3U.
